About Youlgrave's Pommie Panter Fell Race

Info: It's the 1st edition of Youlgrave's Pommie Panter . The race is run under Fell Running Association (FRA) competition rules and licence. We're a 'proper' traditional Peak District roller of a race. The terrain is rough trails, open fields and an opening section of country lane. There'll be small sections of low level technical parts and a swamp. The route navigation isn't complicated and its all on public footpaths plus we'll have marshals and signs up. BUT this is the 1st edition and we're limiting entrant numbers so we can concentrate on getting it right. So you may very well end up solo or in a small group where nobody knows the route. If you're not experienced ie ok with map reading/path finding or familiar with the area's paths a course recce is STRONGLY recommended. The route is all public paths, so you can recce at your leisure. There will be a group recce on Sunday 12th March being done as 1 of Youlgrave Harriers open invite guided runs. Details of the group recce are here  (all free etc, just add your name to a list so we know numbers)

Entry Fee: £6 . 100% of the profit is going towards the village fund raising to be distributed via the Parish Council.

Route: 5.8 mile / 800 feet. Partially marked and marshalled. Some navigation skills / local knowledge will be an advantage. Full Route maps can be found on the website HERE

You'll start with a 1mile climb on a Quiet Lane to take you out and above the village. Its a cheeky climb but deliberate  to allow the field to spread out and settle before you head off road using a section of the Limestone Way. You pop back out onto the road for 400m then drop onto the river in Bradford Dale. Its then a few miles of undulating fields with a small swamp interlude as you head up onto Harthill Moor with long views over the area. You'll then have a very fast downhill Lane section for 800m before the final field, a drop down back to the river then a final climb back into the village for the last 200m dash through the village and the finish line at Youlgrave Harriers HQ..the George Inn.

This race has a Permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA. The race will be run under the FRA rules of competition which can be found HERE . FRA Race Page HERE
