The Physics Department at the University of Liverpool is committed to providing all of our undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity to realise their maximum potential as a physicist.

We provide access to world-class research infrastructure through research institutes and centres hosted at the University, specialising in fields such as renewable energyinnovative materialsaccelerator science, and semiconductor sensors. REF2021 positioned us 7th nationally for the quality of our research environment and joint 3rd for our overall activities that are either nationally leading or world-class. Our research leaders teach our students the fundamentals of physics, passing on their expertise and passion for the subject. Through our , we inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
