This is your first step towards swimming to Paradise in 2023! By successfully completing this qualification process you will then have the opportunity to enter the Paradise Island Swim 2023 itself. All swimmers that take part in the Paradise Island Swim must have completed this first stage and met all qualification criteria.
Registration for your Intention to Qualify costs £55.00.
This covers the cost of two open water group training swims with coaches and safety cover, and the Qualifier Swim taking place on 29 or 30 July, which will include all safety crew and guard boats (and a post-swim cake celebration!). You will also receive your training guide and, upon completing the qualifier, your exclusive Paradise Island Swim swim cap.
Before you register your Intention to Qualify, please be aware that ALL swimmers must wear a wetsuit for group training swims, qualifier and on event day - however this does not have to be a full wetsuit. All swimmers must also source a support kayaker for the event and qualifier, and ideally the training swims.
This event is delivered by Try A Tri Community LBG; a not for profit organisation that delivers fun, inclusive, non judgemental events, training and experiences for everyone.
On the weekend of Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th August 2023, a group of swimmers will be taking on Paradise Island Swim 2023: a 5km open water swim challenge organised and led by Try A Tri Community LBG. This is the fifth swim in the event's history and we are excited to welcome a new cohort of swimmers to the Paradise Island Swim community!
In order to take part in the event, you must register your 'Intention to Qualify' by completing this online process. By registering you will become part of a group of people that will aim to complete the Paradise Swim Qualifier on Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th July 2023.
The qualifier is an open water coastal swim of between 4-5km which should be completed within a timeframe set by the organisers. As a rough guide, swimmers should be able to hold a minimum of 2:25mins/100m (or 25 mins per 1km) as an average over the distance. The successful completion of the qualifying swim is a mandatory requirement, in order to then enter the Paradise Island Swim 2023 event itself.
We politely request that those that register their 'Intention to Qualify' make a commitment to join both of the coached open water group training swims, along with their support kayak, that will take place on Sundays from June 2023.
Provisional Open Water Group Training sessions:
Sunday 11 June at Pembroke / L'Ancresse
Sunday 16 July at Pembroke / L'Ancresse
Qualifier:
