About Frank "Frubbs" MacFarlane
Frank MacFarlane, fondly remembered as "Frubbs," moved to Jersey from Dumbarton and worked in Hospitality for many years before he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. After leaving hospital, he became a member of Headway Jersey and greatly benefited from the support the charity provides to individuals living with a brain injury.
Sadly, Frank passed away in July 2017. In his memory, his close friend and Headway Ambassador, Harry McAlinden, decided to organise the "Running for Frubbs" event, a tribute to Frank's legacy and friendship. This year, the run will take place on 7 December 2025 — just one day before what would have been Frank’s 66th birthday.
Frank was a dear friend to many, and his love for music, especially The Rolling Stones and The Who, lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. He often brought in his CD collections to play during the arts and crafts focus group at the day centre, creating a vibrant and positive atmosphere for all members to enjoy — sharing his love for music.
Join us in honouring Frank’s memory and supporting individuals affected by a brain injury.
About the route
This race offers a scenic and popular route, perfect for runners stepping up to this distance as well as seasoned runners aiming for a fast time. To ensure a prompt start, we ask participants to arrive from 9:30 a.m.
The route is officially measured and takes you from the Waterfront to St. Aubin, featuring the picturesque harbour and the railway walk.
After the race, all runners are invited to the awards presentation at Cineworld’s upstairs bar area, where refreshments and cake will be served.
Key information:
Age restriction: Entrants must be 18 years or older
T-shirt guarantee: As time is quite short before the actual race, we will be ordering 100 t shirts in the most popular numbers of the usual sizes. Therefore we cannot guarantee all entrants after 100 will get a t-shirt or that they will get the size they request.
Registration deadline: Entries close on 5/12/25. Strictly no entries will be accepted past this cut-off date
Race pack collections: Please make sure you or a representative collect your race t-shirt and number at Rock n Road Run Co in Liberty Wharf on Friday 5th December between 12pm and 3pm.
Please note that any race packs not collected by 3pm on Friday 5th December will only be available on the morning of the race for those who have contacted us in advance. As the event day is very busy and we rely on a small team of volunteers for administrative tasks, there is a risk that you may not be able to collect your pack on race day if we are not notified ahead of time. Your cooperation is essential to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Bag drop: Bags/personal belongings can be dropped off at our registration stand at Castle Quay before the race starts and collected at Cineworld afterward (please note this is at your own risk; we are not responsible for any lost items).
Water: You are encouraged to bring your own water bottle. There will be one water station in St Aubin's (just before Little Gem beach cafe), where you can grab a bottle of water on your way past, kindly sponsored by the Co-op.
In case of cancellation: If the race has to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, updates will be posted on our social media pages and website. We will also attempt to contact all runners.
Race award categories (due to short notice of the race going ahead, we will only be doing the following awards, no age groups this time)
1st place - male and female
2nd place - male and female
3rd place - male and female
