A 5 day (4 nights) training course based in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales for people who want to learn the fundamentals skills of how to be self sufficient in the mountains of the UK.

Previous experience: Not required.

Length: 5 days (3 days practical, 2 day expedition)

For the first days you will experience 3 full days of learning new skills from some of the best leaders around. This includes navigation, how to plan a route and kit selection.

The final two days will be an expedition with an over night wild camp, where you will put your new skills to good use and see how much you have learnt.

Thursday & Friday

We will head out into the mountains for an overnight wild camp expedition. Over the two days we will look further at navigation skills. We will also look at wild camping skills and how we can do this safely, enjoyably and with sympathy for the environment. We will also discuss mountain safety & emergency procedures.

The mountains of the UK are remote, technical and exposed to harsh and unpredictable weather. This can make them a hazardous place and this course is designed to equip you with the skills to enjoy them safely and includes an overnight wild camp and navigation skills training.



The course is suitable for beginners with limited previous experience in the mountains or for people with some experience looking to build upon it.

The course will be run by experienced and skilled Mountain Leaders and who are an abundance of fun and patience.
