Safety/rules
The event is possible thanks to kind permission of the National Trust, allowing us to use their land and pathways. The course will be fully marshalled but please note a few specific safety points, especially regarding the 5 mile route.
• This is very much an all terrain route.
• There are some tree roots ingrained into the paths – especially in the far woods at the west side of the village (5 mile course) – these will be signed and well marked where possible but again please just take care.
• There is a minimum age requirement of 14 years old for the 5 Mile Race.
• Regretfully dogs are not permitted on any of the school grounds, and runners are not allowed to run with dogs.
• Please obey the instructions of marshals at all times. It is important you can listen to their instructions, so please do not run with headphones in.
Please note that all runners in the Fun Run (young & old) need to buy a ticket.

About 2026 Sherborne 5 Mile Run & Fun Run

The Friends of Sherborne School are delighted to be hosting another renewal of our 5 Mile All Terrain Run and Fun Run, in conjunction with the National Trust through the beautiful parkland of the Sherborne Estate.
Our event will include two separate races starting at the school, with a 2.4k Fun Run beginning at 10.00am and a 5 Miler Race at 11.00am.
The Fun Run is for children and families (suitable for all-terrain buggies), to enjoy running a circuit around the ‘Pleasure Grounds’ within the walls of the Sherborne Estate.
The 5-Miler Race involves a combination of tracks and trails through woodland and open country with stunning scenery. As always we are hugely thankful to LuSH Timing who have supported us year on year with this event and will be providing chipped timing for the 5 Mile Race with full results and timings posted after the race.
This is the school’s major fundraising event, and the school children are already planning what entertainments and refreshments are to be offered in the playground both before and after the races. This year we are focused on raising money towards buying new computer equipment that the school badly needs, raising money towards supporting school trips for all the children to help enrich their learning as well as funding external PE teachers to come and teach at the school and encourage the children to be active and enjoy all different types of sport.
There are medals awarded to all runners in both races, as well as a host of prizes to the various category winners. The fastest female finisher of the 5 Mile race will also be presented with the Clemmie Birtles Memorial Cup.
Friends of Sherborne School is a registered charity, (reg no. 1075256), and this event would not able to go ahead without the help and support of the National Trust, Bourton Road Runners, LuSH Timing and our other generous sponsors. We thank you all.
Please note that we provide free parking in a field at the edge of the village, so please allow up to 10 minutes to walk from the car park to registration.
