The “Running Celebration Evening: In honour of Dr Ron Hill MBE, Memory Lane Evening” takes place as part of The Running Conference 2022 and is hosted by Running Industry Alliance and Ronhill in memory of Ron Hill MBE.

Taking place on Monday 12th December at Loughborough University, the evening event will celebrate and honour the life and the achievements of Ron Hill with Alzheimer’s Research UK and The Running Bee Foundation the two beneficiary charities.

In exchange for a charity donation The Running Conference attendees will be offered a unique Ron Hill Memorabilia technical t-shirt featuring a print by artist and painter Brian Donnelly, based on an iconic photo taken at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh where Ron Hill won the Marathon in 2:09:28.

These raffle prizes will also be available on the night (raffle tickets can be purchased below): 

* two one-off original oil paintings of Ron Hill by Brian Donnelly, based on scenes from the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and the 1970 Boston Marathon which Ron won in a record time of 2:10:30, becoming the second man to break 2:10 in the marathon and claiming the marathon world record.

The artist’s description of the Ron Hill Boston Marathon painting is as follows: “Ron winning the Boston Marathon setting a course record. My depiction is Ron on the long hard road to the finish, emerging rain, soaked but triumphant. It was that look on his face, much like in Edinburgh, that I sought to capture… the inimitable Ron and that winning feeling which he knew well in his meteoric career. Acrylic on canvas float mounted on a white frame 20” x 30”.
