There is no finish. There is only one finisher. The last one standing.

Backyard Ultra is a form of ultra-marathon race where competitors must consecutively run the distance of 6706 meters (4.167 miles) in less than one hour.

When each lap (or yard) is completed, the remaining time within the hour is typically used to recover for the next hour’s race.

You must complete the 4.167 mile yard and be back ready to start the next one or you are out. The race continues until there is only one person who can complete a solo yard within the hour. 

Our BagYard Ultra takes this to the next level, with specific distances available to those wishing to achieve particular goals: 100 Mile, 50 Mile, Marathon and Half Marathon.

These additional distances will follow the same Backyard format, by starting on the hour every hour until your chosen distance is complete!

And we'll have an awesome party at the finish with a bar, food vendors, and bands.  Bring your support crew along for the day and they'll be in fine spirits to help you celebrate when you cross the line!

The BagYard Ultra is a partnership event between the charity School in a Bag and RaceNation Events, with proceeds from the event going to School in a Bag.

Start Times

Friday 6pm - BackYard Ultra and 100 mile (set distance) runners set off.  (24 hrs+)
Saturday 8am - BagYard 50 mile (set distance) runners set off.  (12 hrs)
Saturday 11am - BagYard Marathon (set distance) runners set off. (6 and a bit hrs)
Saturday 4pm - BagYard Half Marathon (set distance) runners set off.  (3 and a bit hrs)

Only the last one standing in the Backyard Ultra category will receive a BackYard memento. All others in this category will receive a DNF medal.

Finishers in all other categories (100 mile, 50 mile, Marathon and Half Marathon) will receive a finisher's medal.

Please note

All spectators will require a ticket. These are free and can be added to your entry on booking, or separately at any time before entries close.

Camping is included with the Ultra and 100 mile tickets.

Camping for other distances needs to be purchased before entries close.

No BBQs, no open fires and no alcohol to be brought onto the site please.

The site will be open from midday on Friday 10th September - The bar and some food providers will be open on Friday evening.

Sorry no dogs on site.

Some of the route is on private land please do not attempt to run this before our event!
