Before you enter 14 March - 6km or 10km - Helier's Seymour Sprint

REGISTRATION HAS NOW CLOSED. TO REGISTER ON THE DAY PLEASE ARRIVE BEFORE 2PM, WE WILL BE ON THE BEACH NEAR THE TOILETS.

In aid of Philip's Footprints

Welcome to the sign-up page for the Seymour Sprint - the unique race across Jersey's Ramsar site. Bring trainers to get wet, and a sense of fun, and enjoy our race against the tide out to the iconic Seymour Tower (and back again)!

This run takes place along Jersey’s south east coast, out to the historic Seymour Tower and back to the start, racing the tide across this beautiful Ramsar site. This is a 6km trail run to Seymour Slip, or 10km trail run to Seymour Tower, or across the inter-tidal zone, so be prepared to get wet and run over sandy and rocky surfaces. Unfortunately, due to the timing challenges with beating the tide, entrants must be over 18 only.

Safety Briefing: 14:45hrs (2.45pm) prompt

Start time:  15:00hrs (3pm)

Seymour Tower Cut Off (5km): 15:45hrs (3.45pm)

Registration on the day from Long Beach Car Park starting at 13:30hrs (1.30pm). If registering on the day please arrive BEFORE 2pm.

We are being eco-friendly with our race:

  • Due to the confirmation of CoVid-19 in Jerse, we are unable to provide a water station, please ensure you bring sufficient water with you.

  • The run takes place over part of the Jersey Ramsar site - whilst the run is relatively short, any waste (empty gel packs, water bottles etc) MUST be carried with you. Rubbish bags will be available at Long Beach car park.

To minimise risk we have chosen not to provide refreshments, instead hot and cold drinks, and cakes, can be bought from Rhona's just down the beach and you are welcome to bring them back and join us afterwards. Please note - Rhona's is not taking cash at the moment but you can tap to pay.

If anyone is displaying symptoms - please don't join us! Likewise, if you change our mind and would prefer not to participate please just contact us for a refund.

Please OPT IN to keep up to date with how YOU have made a difference and how Philip's Footprints use your donations - we promise not to overload your inbox.

If you would like to make an additional donation on the day or as part of your registration that would be very much appreciated. People are welcome to raise additional sponsorship if they wish which would be a great help towards our fundraising target, you can set up your own sponsorship page or download a paper copy.

The run takes place over beach and inter-tidal terrain and shoes and clothing will be exposed to sea water and part of the course may be under water. You are expected to use common sense, follow the marshalled route and avoid running over rocky outcrops and through deeper water.

Please note re 10km Run - This event will be physically challenging - you will be running 10km across uneven coastal/ inter-tidal terrain, through the gulleys. Due to the risk of tidal cut-off, there is a time limit for reaching the turn-around point (45mins - 5km).  You therefore need to be able to run the 10km distance within the 90 minute time set. That works out at 8 min/km or 12.5min/mile (which is a comfortable jog for most). You are expected to be in good health and not have any medical conditions which might prevent you doing that.

In the event of poor weather making the event unsafe, Philip's Footprints reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event.

About 14 March - 6km or 10km - Helier's Seymour Sprint

14 March 2020 @ 3pm - Seymour Sprint 6km and 10km options for Philip's Footprints

This event is fundraising for Philip's Footprints, who have just launch a £15,000 appeal to raise funds to furnish the Bereavement Suite in Jersey Maternity, which is being relocated as part of a larger refurbishment. You can donate directly on this event if you don't want to run.

Each year, around 1,000 babies are born in Jersey. For most, it is a joyous occasion, bringing new life into the world. But around 20 families do not get to take their much wanted and already much loved babies home and instead they are left with a devastating and profound heartbreak.

Jo Nash, Founder of Philips Footprints said "At times such as this, bereaved parents need a safe space. We know from personal experience just how important the bereavement suite is, providing a refuge for mothers, fathers, siblings and wider family. It allows families to take the time they need to make memories and say goodbye."

The money raised will go towards creating an up to date, homely and peaceful space allowing families to spend time with their baby, holding them, making treasured memories and helping them begin to grieve the loss of their baby or babies.
