6km or 10km - Philip's Footprints Seymour Sprint 2023

Before you enter 6km or 10km - Philip's Footprints Seymour Sprint 2023

Welcome to the sign-up page for the Seymour Sprint - the unique race across Jersey's Ramsar site. Bring trainers to get wet, and a sense of fun, and enjoy our race against the tide.

Our enormous thanks to our sponsors Slomans Estate Agents.

This run takes place along Jersey’s spectacular south-east coast. Starting on the beach by the north end of Longbeach car park, choose from a 6km beach run to Seymour Slip and return, or a 10km trail run to the historic Seymour Tower, across the inter-tidal zone of the beautiful Ramsar site. Be prepared to get wet and run over sandy and rocky surfaces!

PLEASE NOTE this event is pre-registration only, there is no sign-up on the day. Closing date/time for registration is 21 April 18:00.

REQUIREMENTS: 10km - due to the timing challenges with beating the tide, entrants must be able to run the distance in under 90 minutes (further details below).

Children aged 10-15 can enter but MUST BE ACCOMPANIED by an adult over the whole distance. Over 16s can run independently.

CHECK-IN: 13:00 - 14:00hrs (1:00pm-2:00pm) On Longbeach (Grouville) by Sandy Park (children's play area and toilets), north end of Longbeach Car Park.
Safety Briefing 14:15hrs (2:15pm) prompt

Start time:  14:30hrs (2:30pm)

Seymour Tower Cut Off (5km): 15:15hrs (3:15pm)

LOVE JERSEY! The run takes place over part of the Jersey Ramsar site - whilst the run is relatively short, any waste (empty gel packs, water bottles etc) MUST be carried with you. Rubbish bags will be available at the registration desk and bins are at Long Beach car park.

T-SHIRT SALES NOW CLOSED. UNDATED T-SHIRTS IN AQUA AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON THE DAY £15
T-shirts are available by order only
- we are mindful of our charity 'footprint' and know how many event t-shirts just get worn once and stuffed to the back of the wardrobe. So you can choose whether or not to buy one - please note: CUT-OFF to purchase is Easter Monday 10th April.

COVID - please follow Government guidance as a minimum.

Please OPT IN to keep up to date with how YOU have made a difference and how Philip's Footprints use your donations - we promise not to overload your inbox.

If you would like to make an additional donation on the day or as part of your registration that would be very much appreciated. People are welcome to raise additional sponsorship if they wish which would be a great help towards our fundraising target. You can set up your own sponsorship page or download a paper copy.

The run takes place over the beach and inter-tidal terrain - shoes and clothing will be exposed to seawater and parts of the course may be under water. You are expected to use common sense, follow the marshalled route and avoid running over rocky outcrops and through deeper water.

Please note re 10km Run: This event will be physically challenging - you will be running 10km across uneven coastal/ inter-tidal terrain, through the gulleys. Due to the risk of tidal cut-off, there is a time limit for reaching the turn-around point (45mins - 5km).  You therefore need to be able to run the 10km distance within the 90 minute time set. That works out at 8 min/km or 12.5min/mile (which is a comfortable jog for most). You are expected to be in good health and not have any medical conditions which might prevent you doing that.

In the event of poor weather making the event unsafe, Philip's Footprints reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event.

About 6km or 10km - Philip's Footprints Seymour Sprint 2023

This event is fundraising for Philip's Footprints.

Each year, around 900 babies are born in Jersey. For most, it is a joyous occasion, bringing new life into the world. But around 20 families do not get to take their much-wanted and already much-loved babies home and instead, they are left with a devastating and profound heartbreak.

Philip's Footprints provides both support to bereaved families in this instance and also funds initiatives for safer pregnancies such as professional training, antenatal equipment and safer pregnancy information to reduce the number of stillbirths, premature births and complications at birth - improving outcomes for babies
