Athletes from Obstacle Play Park have accrued over 200 podiums since 2018 in both Spartan races and OCR races both in the UK and worldwide, this is your opportunity to join them.

I have been a qualified obstacle coach since 2018 having added to my qualifications to become over the years currently the only practicing Spartan Obstacle Specialist and SGX Level 2 coach in the UK, I’m also a level 2 World Obstacle/British Obstacle Coach and I was previously an obstacle race director so have a very good understanding of OCR from many different levels.

I regularly travel around Europe to experience other Spartan & OCR Races to help further my knowledge of obstacles, the skills to use them and ideas of what to build at OPP to help improve the athletes experience plus I still compete in races myself

Obstacle Play Park was created in 2017 by me to help athletes reach their full potential with a huge array of technical obstacles from around the world some of which you won’t see at any other training venue in the UK, OPP is the only training venue authorised to hold Obstacle Specialist Courses for Spartan previously these have only been held at Spartan UK race venues.

The obstacles I build are as close as possible to the same obstacles you will see on a race to give you the best experience possible when training, plus there are obstacles that I have designed myself and are unique to OPP

After yet another very successful Spartan/OCR season this year’s OCR Championship Training Group will be slightly more OCR dominated while still retaining some essential Spartan techniques, the goal will be to help athletes prepare for either the European Championships in Portugal, other OCR series races around the world and of course Spartan races.

There will be 3 sessions all taking place before the European Championships with the first 2 before taking place before the first Spartan series race at Henly in May.

Date for 2025 training dates

Session 1:- Sunday 23^rd March 10.00-2.00pm

Session 2:- Sunday 27^th April 10.00-2.00pm

Session 3:- Sunday 15^th June 10.00-2.00pm

We will discuss the importance of the right race and training mindsets, warm-ups, race nutrition and race strategies.

Obstacle wise we will work on different techniques for different weather conditions and obstacles, spending time on working under stressful race conditions and sharing my views on finding that extra something on race day, I don’t subscribe to the popular “train hard race easy” concept, most people never train to the intensity required to win races so can never find that extra something to turn them into a successful athlete, but more about that on the course.

Athletes that are either coached by myself 1-1, are part the OPP Warriors Team or athletes that took part in last year’s training course accounted for over 60 podiums worldwide in 2024 including Spartan Series Winners and British OCR Championship winners in both 12k and 3k Championships, and podiums in Spanish OCR races so the standard is very high which is also a great environment to learn in.

There is a minimum requirement be able to join the course this is to make sure you are not left behind when training with others and to maximize your training experience,

You should be able to:

Run 10k

Complete Monkey bars with any technique you chose

Complete a set of rings

Climb 4ft & 6ft walls

If you struggle with these then I  would suggest that you join me for some 1-1 sessions or look at one of the other courses on offer to help you prepare for the increase level.

Places will be limited and a £50 deposit before November 15^th 2024, will secure your place with the deposit due on or before January 31^st 2025 this also gives you the early bird total price of £170 saving £10

After 16^th November full payment will be required to join the 2025 programme.

£50 deposit by 16^th November Balance of £120 by 31^st January total £170

After 16^th November full price of £180 paid 2 weeks before the start of the course (9^th March)

After 9^th March £190
