30 Bays in 30 Days 2020

Before you enter 30 Bays in 30 Days 2020

Come and join us - everyone is welcome! Whether you're an experienced sea swimmer or just a novice this event is for you: you only need to swim 30 strokes in each of the bays. If you have mobility issues, then simply pick your favourite bay - make the Challenge work for you and get swimming! All participants are encouraged to follow the Government’s guidance at all times for the duration of the Challenge.

*Please find below an update from the Ports of Jersey. Please do NOT swim in these areas*

The Sands slipway(Bay number 31) location is an area that needs special consideration due to the fixed rip current that is present from around mid-tide up. We would recommend that swimmers taking part in the challenge swim at the Watersplash (RNLI Lifeguard Patrolled) and Le Braye (RNLI Lifeguard Patrolled and Flagged). The RNLI Beach Lifeguards operate 1000-1800 every day and swimmers are encouraged to speak to the RNLI Beach Lifeguards to get an update on the conditions on the beaches they patrol.

Also please do not swim at Corbiere (Bay number 27) due to the strong current in this area once the causeway covers.

About 30 Bays in 30 Days 2020

Following the success of the last 4 years, the '30 Bays in 30 Days' swimming challenge which raises funds for both Jersey Hospice Care and The National Trust for Jersey will be launched again for July 2020. However, and in view of the current COVID-19 restrictions, some changes have had to be made in order to meet Government guidelines on physical distancing.

This year, we will not be staging the group opening and closing swims, but we encourage all those registered to start the challenge on 1st July and swim a minimum of 30 strokes, 30 times in bays local to them. Participants can pick their favourite bays or if they want an extra challenge, can attempt to swim in all 30 during the month of July.

Participants may carry on swimming in August to complete as many swims or bays as they have challenged themselves to complete!

In the absence of the opening and closing swims we ask participants to take photos or make short videos of their swims, that we can share with the wider community though our 30 Bays website, Facebook and Instagram pages.

All participants are encouraged to follow the Government’s guidance at all times for the duration of the Challenge.
