Too many teenage girls are dropping out of sport. Research shows that 43% of girls who considered themselves sporty in primary school no longer feel that way as teenagers, and more than two-thirds stop playing sport entirely by the ages of 16 or 17. Fear of judgment, body image concerns, school pressures, and a lack of relatable role models are just some of the barriers holding girls back.
In this session, 30-50 girls aged 13-19 will meet Supertri professionals Georgia Taylor-Brown (confirmed) and Sophie Coldwell (tbc) to talk openly about these challenges. The athletes will share their own experiences of staying in sport, while the girls will have the chance to ask questions and discuss what needs to change in sporting environments to help more girls stay active as they grow older.
