Welcome to Round 1 of the Jersey Cycling's 2020/21 Cyclocross series. This year there will be a 5 round points series with a final CX Champs event rounding off the season.
Dates for this years events are:
8th November - Round 1
29th November - Round 2
13th December - Round 3
27th December - Round 4
17th January - Round 5
7th February - CX Champs
Once again there will be two races 'Elite' and 'Sport' with separate categories for Ladies within each race. The Ladies races will start 2 minutes ahead of the rest of the field.
The Elite race will be approximately 50 minutes in duration. Whilst Juniors and Youth riders will be accepted, they must be minimum 2nd year Youth B and endorsed by the Coaching team of the JYC. The event will be limited to 40 riders and the Organisers reserve the right to move riders to the Sport race if oversubscribed.
The Sport race will be run over the same course and will be approximately 40 minutes in duration. The Sport race is intended to be a fun race and is perfectly suited to both newcomers and experienced riders. Juniors and Youth riders will be accepted, they must be minimum Youth B. The event will be limited to 40 riders.
Points will be awarded to all starters in each category, with 15 points for each category winner, 14 for second place etc down to all finishers getting a minimum of 2 points and all starters a minimum of 1 point. All 5 rounds to count and the series winner in each category will be the one to have attained most points over the series. Gridding at each round will be based on current points positions. Gridding for this first event will be based upon finishing positions in last years Championship.
This event will run in accordance with current Covid19 guidelines. Riders from the Sport event must vacate the venue as quickly as possible after the finish. Riders for the Elite Race must arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before course familiarisation to collect race chips and must move to the holding area near the start line. They must not congregate with riders from the Sport race. Participants and Officials must maintain a minimum 1 metre distancing at all times.
Races will have gridded starts with minimum 1 metre distancing.
In addition to single event entry, there will be the option to purchase a series season ticket. A season ticket will guarantee the holder to a race entry for each round with the purchase price costing the equivalent of 5 event entries with the CX Champs being effectively free.
Round 1 of the series will be held at the Les Quennevais Sport Centre on 8th November. The timetable of events will be:
09.30 - 09.45 - Course familiarisation Sport
09.50 - 10.30 - CX Sport - 40 mins
10.35 - 10.50 - Course familiarisation Elite
10.55 - 11.45 - CX Elite - 50 mins
11.50 - 12.00 - JYC course familiarisation
12.05 - 13.00 - JYC Races
Sign on will be online with race number chips available from 09.15 in the JYC clubhouse for the Sport race and from 10.20 for the Elite race. Entries on the day will NOT be accepted.
