As each abseil time slot is limited to 10 people, bookings are made on a first come first served basis through the Race Nation registration page and cannot be changed. Refunds are not available, therefore we suggest taking out event insurance should you have any concerns, this is available through Race Nation.

Embark on the Dare to Descend Challenge in support of Headway Jersey!
Are you ready to unleash your adventurous spirit and take on the exhilarating abseil down Mont Orgueil Castle?
Registration is now officially OPEN for our bi-annual abseil challenge! Join us for an experience of a lifetime on Sunday 6th October 2024, under the expert guidance of Jersey Adventures.
Your unique experience includes:
- Abseil down two of Jersey's historic landmarks
- Photos and video guaranteed to capture the moment
- Opportunity to meet new people
- Step out of your comfort zone
- Tick off an item off your bucket list and conquer your fears
- Make a difference and support people in Jersey who have suffered from a brain injury
Ahead of the castle abseil, you will need to attend a mandatory training session at Noirmont Tower on Saturday 5th October 2024.
You can choose from 3 available time slots for the main abseil, each time slot has a corresponding training session scheduled for the day before. Please note that the time of the training session is specifically assigned to each time slot and is non-adjustable.

Spaces are limited to 30 participants, with an age limit of 18 years and above.
£45 Entry fee + minimum fundraising commitment of £150 per person.

Previous experience
No prior abseiling experience is necessary to participate in this challenge.
Please note that abseiling requires a modest level of fitness and flexibility, as you will have to navigate railings, climb steep inclines and conquer 200 steps within the castle.
Mandatory training session
Ahead of your castle abseil, you will be required to undertake a 2 hour training session on Saturday 5th October 2024 at Noirmont Tower to familiarise yourself with the equipment. This training session is mandatory for all participants, even if you have abseiled before.
Please note that if you do not attend the training session, you will not be permitted to participate in the castle abseil on Sunday 6th October 2024.
Fundraising commitment
As spaces are limited and due to the costs associated with running this event, we ask that each participant commits to a minimum fundraising target of £150. This will greatly contribute to Headway Jersey being able to continue to provide free support, information and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers.
All fundraising must be submitted by Monday 30th September 2024. In the event of a shortfall, the participant is responsible for covering the difference.

What to bring
Jersey Adventures will supply all the necessary specialised equipment. You will need to wear suitable clothing and shoes and be appropriately dressed for the weather conditions. It is advisable to wear long trousers and a long sleeved top to protect your legs and arms.
Closed toe shoes/trainers are essential.
Spectators
Jersey Heritage is kindly offering a discounted entry rate into Mont Orgueil Castle for any friends or family of participants who wish to watch their abseil on 6th October 2024.
A 15% discount is only applicable on adult and senior admissions. Please be aware that this discounted rate does not apply to any student admissions as these are already discounted.
No pre-booking is required. Spectators will just need to mention who they are supporting on arrival so the Jersey Heritage front of house staff can check the list of abseilers and the discount will be provided on payment by cash or card.
