Race Briefing: 1900 1st September 2023 (Map marking to follow)
Race starts: 0900 Saturday 2nd September 2023
Cost of entry = £95 (all profit goes to charity)
Event HQ is located in the fantastic setting of Hamfields leisure centre. All runners and crew MUST attend the race brieifing at 1900 on the Friday evening. Facilities available at HQ include plumed toilets and showers, charging points (for phones, devices etc), Bar and plenty of room for camping room for tents and campers. In addition there is an indoor area to provide shelter, refreshments and live tracking of the runners. HQ will open at 1200 on the Friday for arrival, registration and camp set up. Crew members are not compulsory this year.
Race Rules
- It is the responsibility of the runner to ensure they are capable of competing in the race
- A race waver MUST be completed at registration
- Runners are ONLY allowed assistance in camp after checking in after each lap.
- Runners MUST adhere to the race rules laid out in the race briefing.
- Runners and crew MUST be self-sufficient.

About The Berkeley Marathons 2023
The Berkeley Marathons UK was conceived following a chance encounter with Lazarus Lake at The National Running Show UK in January 2020. After hearing that my family were from Berkeley, Gloucestershire, UK, Laz exclaimed: “you should set up your own race!” Armed with 2 rules from Laz, 1, make it open to all types of runner 2, make it nearly impossible, the story began. I’d already been considering ways that I could raise money for the local community and after mulling Laz’s suggestion over for a few months this felt like an opportunity I couldn’t ignore. What followed was weeks of research, month’s of preparation and some significant levels of excitement!
130 (ish) Miles.... 26 ish miles per lap with 5 laps required, thats enough to get a veteran ultra-runner shaking in their shoes.
15,000ft ish of Elevation.... 3,000ft of elevation gain per lap, thats 15,000ft of gain if you manage to complete all 5 laps!
24 Hour Cut Off With a 24 hour cut off each lap would need to be 4:48:12 or under to finish.
