This is an amateur athlete event only
The 35th Dursley Dozen will take place on Sunday 16th February 2025. (ARC Permit: ARC/25/0031)
We are excited to announce that the 2025 event follows the same exciting route as 2024, twelve miles of demanding multi-terrain over hillsides, woodland, open country, mud, roads, more mud, and solid rock.
The 2025 Dursley Dozen will start on May Lane near The Old Spot, Dursley GL11 4JQ at 10.30am. The route will follow Hill Road ascending steeply for almost two hundred meters before entering woodland and climbing onto Stinchcombe Golf Course. The race route then re-enters the woods and climbs and descends several times over the next 2 miles.
The 2025 event is fortunate to once again have been allowed to use land at 'Leaf and Ground' cafe & shop for part of the race route. From here spectators can watch as competitors descend to the Leaf and Ground pond before climbing back up into the woods and onto the Golf Course. Undulating trails then lead to the infamous precipice where ropes are provided before emerging at Drakestone Point. Another mile of level but exposed paths around the edge of golf course will bring runners back into the woods.
A mile and a half of muddy woodland paths will take runners to a brief section of road and into more woodland before a steep descent down Axe Lane to the New Inn at Waterley Bottom. A steep ascent follows back to the hilltop and a circuit of Breakheart Quarry. A section of quiet country road takes competitors back into the woods before the last descent into the town. The final sprint is down the pedestrianised Parsonage Street to the finish line in front of the Dursley Market Hall building where all finishers will receive their hard-earned technical T-shirt.
The 2025 Dursley Dozen has spared no hills and has almost 2000 feet of climb and descent. It remains just as demanding as previous years with many challenging and technical sections. The route is predominantly on woodland trails which are alternately muddy, stony and with numerous roots and other obstacles but there are some short sections of road.
You will find drinks stations at approximately 3, 6 and 9 miles.
A cut off point will be at the crossing of The Broadway as competitors leave the Golf Course at approximately 6 miles. The cut off will be at 1 hour 40 minutes and any competitor who reaches the cut off after this time will be asked to retire from the event for both their own and our marshals safety.
Parts of the race route take place across private land and MUST NOT be reconnoitred before race day. The full race route CANNOT be run at any time except on race day when permission has been given by landowners to use their property. Failure to adhere to this will put the future of the race in jeopardy.
Over the years the event has seen some extremely poor weather conditions, therefore every competitor should wear off road/multi terrain footwear for this event. (Road shoes and racing spikes are NOT suitable). Race instructions will be sent out prior to race day advising on weather and suggested body cover; however all competitors should risk assess the race on their own capabilities and wear appropriate clothing that will keep them warm enough to complete the event.
Race entries will only be refundable up to 24th January 2025. Entries will be transferable until 2nd February 2025. After this date entries cannot be transferred as competitor numbers will have been processed. The cut off for race entry will be 2nd February 2025.
The event is NOT suitable for wheelchair competitors
There will be no entries on the day.
If you choose race insurance from the Race Nation website, please be aware that you may need to provide a doctor’s certificate for the insurance to be paid and that they may charge for this service.
