James Coghill of Savills sadly lost his battle with cancer earlier this year. His love of riding (and climbing) was well known and in celebration of his life, Savills with the support of Club Peloton, invite you to take part in a free ride in Surrey on Friday 17th August 2018. Starting and finishing just outside of Guildford, the 65 km loop will take in the renowned Leith Hill, White Down and Box Hill - all regular haunts for James - and has more than 1,000 metres of climbing to keep you on your toes.
If that isn't challenging enough for you, instead of turning back after Box Hill you could continue on with three other Club Peloton fundraisers who love climbing too and will be setting off on the first day of their 5300km 100 Climbs Ultimate Challenge. (You can find out more and register here )
The ride is self-supporting which means you'll need to navigate yourself using your GPS bike computer, riding at your own pace and enjoying the scenery. There won't be a lead car or signage to follow. You should also bring spares like inner tubes and a tool kit to fix any minor problems.
• You MUST wear a helmet.
• You will need to check-in at the start, at Box Hill and at the finish
Make sure you can carry plenty of water - ideally bring two full bottles - particularly if the weather is hot or humid as well as some snacks to have along the way. If you have particular energy gels, bars, tablets or drinks please bring these along.
There will be a stop at the top of Box Hill for refreshments as well as mechanical and medical backup.
The route is available to view and download on Strava, Ride with GPS, Garmin Connect and MapMyRide. You can also download the GPX file here.
While the ride is free we would encourage you to make a donation to Cancer Research UK and St Christopher's Hospice, the family's chosen charities, by clicking here.
