Fasten your seatbelts, the Runway Run is back for 2022 and will take place at Guernsey Airport on the night of Saturday 24th September!
The 5km fun run will be raising funds for Channel Islands Air Search, a voluntary organisation providing a rapid response airborne search and rescue service in the 4,000 square mile area around the Channel Islands and adjacent French coast.
Exact timings of the run are to be confirmed, but registration is likely to begin around 9.00 p.m., with the Run starting around 11.00 p.m.
The Runway Run is open to everyone aged 16 or over. The number of places available is strictly limited to 500. All participants will receive a special edition CIAS Runway Run shirt to be worn on the night (see below for size guide). However those who took part in last year's Air Search Runway Run are welcome to reuse their 2021 T-shirt, doing this is optional but will ensure that even more of your entry fee will support the work of "The Lifeboats' eyes in the sky" as well as supporting sponsor BDO's ethos of sustainability.
Please note that due to strict security requirements, runners will need to bring photographic proof of identity on the night, and it is vital that the first name and surname you provide when registering match your photo ID. For the same reason, tickets are non-transferable without the organisers' consent and approval. We regret that we are unable to make any refunds for tickets.
By registering for this event you are granting the organisers permission to contact you using the RaceNation app and via e-mail. You can revoke this consent at any time.
By registering for this event you are also granting the organisers permission to share your name and contact details with Guernsey Airport (for security screening), and with the States of Guernsey Public Health department (if necessary) for Covid-19 track and trace.
IMPORTANT: when booking your place please be sure to read our Terms & Conditions carefully, these contain important information which it is vital that you understand to ensure that you aren't turned away on the night.
Registration on the evening will once again take place at Guernsey Aero Club.
The Aero Club is situated at La Planque Lane - second right after the Airport as you travel from Forest Stores. This road is one-way.
There will not be any parking available at the Aero Club but vehicles can travel nearby for "drop-offs."
Where possible, please car-share. Do not make your way to the Airport terminal or use the Airport car park. Parking will be available at the Forest and Le Rondin Schools which are in close proximity. We are very grateful for their support.
Loose objects (pens, mobile phones, water bottles, etc.) may not be taken onto the runway. A valuables bag service will be available, but please keep personal effects to a minimum.
Entrants are encouraged to follow the dedicated Air Search Runway Run Facebook page (link opposite).
We anticipate t-shirt sizes as follows, but please request a size higher if in doubt:
XS - 35-37 in; S - 37-39 in; M - 39-41 in; L - 41-43 in; XL - 43-45 in; XXL - 45-48 in.
On Saturday 24 September, Guernsey Airport is hosting the annual fun-run on its runway that will raise funds in support of search and rescue charity, Channel Islands Air Search.
The 2022 event is being organised by the Guernsey Friends of Air Search with support from sponsor BDO. Participants can enjoy a 5k run or jog around the airstrip and runners of all abilities from ages 16 and up are invited to take part.
