CCC Handicap Race series Thursday 16 May, 23 May , and 30 May @ 18:45
A handicap race is a road race where riders are given different start times to give riders of differing abilities have a similar chance of finishing the race at the same time.
Handicap start times are determined by the club race handicapper. This job requires a lot of skill to work out a fair start time for each division given the distances of races vary along with the degree of difficulty and wind conditions on the day. Handicap start times for individual division may vary from race to race as the handicapper takes into consideration past performances and other feedback from races.
So Div4 will start first and be chased by Div3. So it is in Div4 interest to work together, i.e. take turns on the front to keep Div3 'away', if successful then the race will be decided between the Div4 riders. If Div 3 catch Div4, then Div4 riders can jump on the back of Div3, and the race will be decided by Div3 and any Div4 who can hold on. Remember it is one race, with the Div4 riders given a head start.
Each week we expect to run two separate races, with a slower DIV3 & 4 Race and a DIV1 and 2 race. We will determine the order and which divisions will race each other each week depending on number of entries.
Everyone needs to arrive by 18:35pm to collect their timing chips.
