Welcome to Axe Valley Runners!

Our home base is Seaton in East Devon and many of our members hail from the surrounding area including Beer, Axminster and West Dorset.

The Grizzly started in the village of Beer in Devon in 1988 with just 27 runners and over a much shorter six-mile course than the current 20 mile iteration.  Records show a S Anning romped home in the inaugural race in a time of 34:45.

In 2023, 2000 runners took part with the winner completing the 20 mile course in 2 hours 14 minutes.

This is a not for profit race organised solely by local volunteers and any net profits from the race are donated to various local groups, organisations and charities. To date, approximately £500,000 has been donated over the past 35 years.
