About the AVR 40th Anniversary Relay
Avon Valley Runners welcomes you to the club’s 40th Anniversary year in a special edition of its annual relay event! Usually, the AVR relay starts in Winsley and ends in Trowbridge. To mix it up, this year AVR has changed the format to do a lapping loop relay from Trowbridge Rugby Football Club (TRFC) that takes the runners out around Semington, the Canal Path, and the rugby field in a ~8km loop. This is an excellent opportunity to get a team together to have a go at a baton relay in some lovely countryside and join AVR in celebrating its 40th year!

AVR 40th Anniversary Relay Route:
Runners will start at TRFC. Holding the baton, the first runner from each team will go from TRFC and run up the lane heading toward Whaddon Lane. Turning on the first right, runners go toward Semington, along St. George’s Road toward the High Street. Turning Left at the Hight Street runners go the Canal Bridge before turning left onto the canal tow path. Runners go along the tow path, past the swing bridge until they reach Whaddon Lane. Runners then turn left onto Whaddon Lane and go straight until they return to TRFC (part of this lane will be 2-way so we encourage runners to keep left). At TRFC each runner will complete a lap of the rugby field before handing their baton to the next person. And repeat! Until all 4 runners have completed their lap.
