Safer Recruitment Workshop

Good recruitment helps charities find people who share their values and can make a positive contribution. Clear and fair processes help ensure that employees and volunteers understand their role, feel welcomed and are able to do the job the way you want them to.

• Be clear about what you need by writing simple role descriptions and adverts that explain the purpose of the role and the skills required.
• Select people fairly by shortlisting against agreed criteria and using structured interviews that explore experience, values and attitude.
• Avoid discrimination by treating all applicants consistently, using objective criteria and focusing only on skills, experience and suitability for the role.
